As it states, post up stuff that you wonder or what to discuss and see what others have to say. No topic is too much or too touchy to talk about, whatever you feel, no limitations on this thread.

Disney Universe without TNBC?
Well, I got a chance to see this unusual trailer for a new game called Disney Universe where you dress up and other strange little characters from Disney films or something like that...you can dress up as all kinds of Disney characters, including characters from MI as well which also includes Randall but it just pisses me off beyond belief that Disney does not include in there The Nightmare Before Christmas.
These are the main and only two trailers for this game and nowhere in there do I see TNBC...at all!
Well...okay, pardon me while I go into a "Disney is so anti TNBC" rant for a minute.
Truth be told, I honestly feel that Disney not only has very little respect for TNBC but also, never liked the movie much to began with. When the movie was first introduced to Disney, they had turned it down, they allowed Tim Burton to make the movie once he got a few films under his belt but it didn't change the fact that it was still bitter sweet. Any TNBC fans know that it was bittersweet, when TNBC had it's first trailer posted, it was posted under the Disney banner but then the full trailer after that was posted under the Touchstone banner. Disney, afraid of what kind of image that TNBC would give them, chose to release this film under the Touchstone banner as a safety concern. TNBC, unlike other Disney films, never followed the rules of the Disney vault where it would recieve re-releases as accordance to the other films. TNBC merchandise was mostly sold in Hot Topic, Spencers, and other stores similiar and rarely in Disney Stores, I remember this pretty vividly since we used to have a Disney store when I was little and around the holiday season, they never carried TNBC merchandise.
Now, I'm sure any Disney fanatic would argue with me and say that's not true but I beg to differ. In the past couple of years, Disney has started paying attention to TNBC but there's one logical reason for that...and we call it the beauty of money! That's right, money makes the world go round and is the root of all the kills. When it comes down to it, it's all for the money. For those who don't know, Burton wanted to stop the Haunted Holiday mansion and has only allowed it to run as long as Disney could slightly modify the mansion each holiday season. Disney wanted to do a sequel to TNBC but Burton only allowed them to get as close as a videogame and the biggest of all....on the 2-disc and blu-ray set, the movie starts off with the Disney banner and "Walt Disney Presents" and I know as a fan and also, as one of the many who originally saw the movie in theaters back in 93 that was NOT how the movie originally started.
I guess that I shouldn't judge the game so quickly but unless we see some TNBC designs in this game, I probably won't buy it, I've already wasted some of my cash on Disney Interactive's crap before and I'm not doing it again any time soon.

Okay, clearly choosing this game as our first what do you think topic wasn't the best idea but I definitely have to share this. I had commented on a vid for the trailer stating that unless TNBC was in it, I wasn't buying it and somebody commented back to me that if it was then there would definitely be a "Zero suit". Rofl, I responded back with a yep, definitley, it was funny but I'm guessing that the play on words clearly made a referrence to Zero the ghost dog while poking some fun at Tron is what I'm guessing, either way, it was a clever play on words for the guy who responded to me. ;D

I think Disney was always afraid that TNBC would hurt it's overall good happy family look. When they saw the film was poplar, they finally started getting into it. Which is about on the same level as Nick marketing Invader Zim out the whazoo, despite that they hated the show. It's funny that the shows that a company doesn't like is the ones everyone loves.
The game itself looks cute, but I'm not totally bought on it. I'll have to wait and see.

You know, that is the strange thing isn't it but I guess there is one thing I can give Disney credit on and they don't do what Nickelodeon does which is slap only one character on everything. At least Disney allows some variety in who appears on merchandising because they know that not all fans like only Jack skellington. There are plenty of fans for Sally, Oogie, Lock, Shock, Barrel, and even the Mayor. Nearly all of these characters and sometimes minor characters appear on their merchandising quite a bit. I know that X-Play in a review for Oogie's revenge poked fun at the merchandising for TNBC at Hot Topic but as I said, we at least get a variety. Nick's problem is that they market and produce stuff with mainly one character and that is Gir. Don't get me wrong, I like Gir but I don't like him that much! The show is called Invader Zim, not Invader Gir. Yeah, another thing that turns me off is that all the little dudes look like dudes, even the ones in the Alice outfit still looks like a dude and not a chick. If they allowed better customization so that way the little characters could appear male and female than that would be just a little better although it looks more like it's a kid's game. Some comments I've read say that it looks like a rip off of that one game Little Big Planet. I don't know if it is because I've never played that game but if not then in a way the My Sims series kind of.

I don't know if it is because I've never played that game but if not then in a way the My Sims series kind of. I was actually just ranting about Invader Zim merchandise the other day! I went on Hot Topic and of all the three pages of Zim stuff, all of it was Gir. Unless you count the underwear set. I mean, Gir is probably my least favorite character. JV even talks about on the commentary about how Gir annoys him only because he's on every little piece of everything. Zim is the main character and even Dib is more of a main than Gir sometimes. I've only seen 2 Dib shirts my whole life. One was a shirt that I'm sure you'll never be able to find again that had almost all the characters (imagine that!) and the other was his actually shirt which I still kick myself in the butt for not buying. It would be like if Disney put only Zero on everything. Sure Zero is a great character and almost an icon of the film, but there are other characters and most companies have the common sense to realize that. Of course, noobs of the show only like Gir and don't even care about anything else because they think they're not supposed to. It is like LBP! I knew it was reminding me of something! Yeah, it's pretty much the same idea, only I think the sackboys are a bit cuter than...whatever the blue things are supposed to be. And you could make your sackgirl look feminine. It's wasn't hard, surprisingly.

What Dib shirt did you mean? The second one, was it red and it said that line about him sticking a pencil in his brain and going to the nurse? If so, I have that one, I bought it when IZ was first on television and it was the only Zim shirt I could buy at that time because the rest of the shirts had sold out.
I think that also, Disney is trying to do another version of that one online game of theirs Toontown, it's similiar to where you're fighting random bad guys who are designed for the game. Well, depending on the release, maybe Disney might make improvements to this, according to wiki info, there are supposed to be 40 possible costumes for your characters.

XD Invader Zim was actually what got me shopping at Hot Topic. I went to the mall about a week after the show aired and it was just littered with stuff! Sadly, I bought a Gir shirt that said "Does somebody need a hug". How was I supposed to know that I could get almost the same thing 10 years later, but not any of the many Zim shirts they had? I do have a lot of Zim shirts (I had one for about every day of the week) but they were all guys and I had a habit of buying two sizes too big back then (mostly because we had tuck in shirt rule and it was easier to keep them tucked in). The Gir shirts (I have two) were the girl ones and they're the only ones I would still wear. One of them stinks. Sorry, I just had to bring that up. I've had it for maybe 5 years, wash it after every wear, and it stinks of rubber and baloney. That's one thing that seems a lot different from it and LBP, I think it will have more fights. Which is nice.

Really, wow, that's alot of shirts. I have about seven shirts myself. My Dib shirt, two with Zim only, one with Gaz only, one with Gir, one with the main four, and one with basically the majority of the main characters. As far as your smelly shirt, what kind of laundry detergent did you use? None of my shirts ever had that problem and one of them was actually bought from here where I work. That's one plus, if the game actually has stuff to do such as fighting enemies instead of trying to be like a clone of just a My sims or something similiar, it will keep it interesting but it's still going to be awhile before we see it in stores though, since it's coming for the Wii then Nintendo Power will definitely be talking about it.

Gah, you have such a nice variety! I always wanted the one with all the main character. I never had money back then ;-;
And it's just the one shirt. It smelled like that when I bought it. I figured a wash would get it out and nothing! Luckily, I was always able to cover it up with body spray until it was washed again and regained it's original smell. It was such a nice shirt, so I couldn't not wear it.
Hmm, I might get it. If anything I'll talk Zack into buying it. He likes Disney stuff, so it shouldn't be hard.

Actually the one with the main characters is a more receant one that I had bought a good couple of months ago or so. Wow, that sucks. Hmm, I'm still going to wait and research it a bit though, I wonder when it's getting released?

Lol, I found the answer to my question, according to E3 news, it's going to come out this Fall. Wow, so close? According to the lady running their booth, the game only has six worlds for now but they are adding more and so far the few costumes we see is what they have designed but 40 costumes are what they are planning. What concerns me is that they don't have alot of time since the holiday season is only a few months away! Unless they have done more work that they didn't reveal at E3, if they release this game too soon there could be glitches! I think with Epic Mickey, they had to push that one's date around a bit and even though I'm not enjoying it as much as I would like, it's still not too bad, if they would have released it too soon, oh good lord, the glitches would be horrible! I really do hope that if they come across problems that they be willing to push back the game a little, if not then they miss some problems or glitches in it if they release too soon. I'm really hoping that we get in some TNBC considering the number of costumes planned.

Really! I haven't seen it on Hot Topics website or their store! D: I did see one like it but it was years ago.
Well, if the game is anything like LBP, you may have the option in the future to get more costumes. New costumes on LBP are released for download all the time. I'm wondering if that's why they're not doing TNBC now because they know fans would be willing to pay for them.

I'm wondering if that's why they're not doing TNBC now because they know fans would be willing to pay for them. Huh, well, the shirt I bought didn't hit our store til nearly after it was off the website but the one with the main four, that one I ordered off the site since I never saw it come to the store we have here. I guess but on the Wii, that means that you would have to get them by buying Wiiware points I would think, that's how most download stuff is handled on the Wii but a card for wii ware points cost around twenty dollars but from what I understood in the E3 videos, the 40 costumes are supposed to be unlockable in the game and will be part of the main game at launch and also, they have more worlds planned to include in the game. I'm just a little concerned that Disney shooting for the holiday season is just pushing it just a little considering that very little info is on this game at the moment. Although, being able to recieve downloads, updates, and new stuff through wi-fi would increase the replay value of the game. As long as they don't do what they did in Epic Mickey where they have so many of these missions that most aren't even necessary to play through the game's story mode. Since the game is focused to be a family title then I would hope that all that junk wouldn't be in it. I will admit though that during work today, I was thinking about that Stitch costume and I must say that I definitely love it, it's actually the best looking one out of what they have. I think that deep down, I'm starting to develop a fondness for this game. It would also be cool for a fanfic concept too. Man, this game has very little info and my brain is already swarming with ideas here. Hopefully Disney won't disappoint or I'm going to be pretty upset considering that I am actually getting pretty excited for this. I even this morning drew up my own TNBC costumes just in case Disney doesn't make any, I'll try posting it them up tomorrow when I can get a chance to use our scanner.

So, for anybody who does a search for Disney Universe on Youtube, not only does it pull up the trailer for the game but also it pulls up a clip from an episode of Family Guy where Stewie and Brian go into different universes, one titled the Disney universe where all the characters are drawn in the classic Disny style but what bothers me is this clip. According to my search, Family Guy was poking fun at old rumors concerning Wat Disney where back when he was alive, some people claimed he was an anti-semite and that he hated Jewish people. I don't want to really bash on the man considering how long he's been dead, rest his soul and all but it does make me wonder, did Disney have anything against Jewish people? What do yo think, I mean, nobody's perfect and anyone is capable of racism, Walt wasn't an exception to this but it does make me wonder a little.
