While it may seem like that, I'm sure that it will be something that will be in the back of the average person's mind. For certain this whole case will be fuel for any comedians to take a crack at our justice system so it won't be somethat that will be forgotten that easily. You have a point. Kind of like the OJ case. I don't think anyone will every forget that.

So, I watched an episode of Dr. Phil yesturday that was a rerun of a mother who has some serious parenting issues...I warn you that what you see may be a little distressing because it's just hard to watch.
This mother was on the Dr. Phil show in November of this past year, her problem was the fact that she's pretty much a parent with bad parenting skills. According to her, her adoptive son is so misbehaved that she has resorted to using punishments of forcing him to swish around hot sauce in his mouth and be in a cold shower until she says that he can get out. After the original show, she was able to get help both for her and her child who turned out that he had RAD or reactive attachment disorder. The mother was charged with a misdemenor of child abuse but here's the thing, her punishments used are to my surprise not considered unusual. Other parents have admitted to doing it as well but in my honest opinion, that is not discipline, it's frightening to the boy because bottom line, it's not the hot sauce or the cold showers that he's afraid of, it's angering his mother. I feel that when it comes to discipline, if it doens't work then don't do it, it's obvious to me that these punishments cause more harm than good. What I wonder is what do you think?

The problem with punishments like this is simply that they're cruel and unusual. A child can comprehend a smack on the bottom for something they've done wrong, but forcing them to stand in a freezing shower? It's just torture for a child. I could see kid's being punished like this growing up with serious detachment problems from their parents. It doesn't help that this boy is adopted and might face feelings like that in his teen years to begin with.
